Shop Local

We love supporting local businesses, especially all of the fixtures in our local food economy! Thanks to Mackinnon Bros. This page lists all local-food related businesses and organizations in our local directory that has a website. You can also view all of the businesses in our directory.

Any business with a website is encouraged to create a "Shop Local" page and link to their favourite local businesses. View more details in this Kingstonist article.

Original founders of the beloved Chez Piggy Restaurant, Rose Richardson & Zalman Yanovsky, wanted to open a small bakery to provide hand-made bread that would sufficiently complement their restaurant’s menu. Time and Quality ingredients. Beginning with our starters and wild sourdough, we appreciate how long slow fermentation improves the taste, texture and digestibility of our bread.  Almost all of our dough is fermented a minimum of 18 hours. Since 2014 we have built our whole wheat, rye and oat breads on the fabulous grain provided to us by Chris and Mary of Ironwood Organics.

Established in 1867, The Wilton Cheese Factory operated as a Farmer’s Cooperative until it was purchased by the Jensen family in the 1970s. One of the stipulations of the purchase was that the factory maintain its original name and the Jensen family honoured that request. The Wilton Cheese Factory and Jensen Cheese are divisions of A.M. Jensen Limited. A.M.

All bread is 100% hand made using a no knead technique, which allows for a longer and proper fermentation, ultimately leading to better and easier to digest bread.
